Today we started out with a visit to a morning market with a variety of interesting things (and lots of carp in the river)
Then we were off to the UNESCO heritage listed site of Shirawago, famous for its steep sloped thatched rooves.
Phillip was thrilled to find that our lunch was trout served four ways - all of them cold
Then we went off to try our hands at making paper at Gokoyama. Great fun.
Finally we had another traditional Japanese dinner. It wasn’t listed on our original itinerary but we’re not complaining. This time we cooked our own and we had beef so Phillip enjoyed it a lot more.
