Saturday 22 June
Our ever obliging chauffeur and tour guides kindly drove us to several places in Provence
We saw field upon field of grapevines, some lavender, cows, horses and lots of lovely stone cottages villages, some on hillsides and some not We even saw the Pont at Avignon (and yes we sang)
First stop was the Pont du Garde an old Roman aqueduct
It was very hot in the car. what apparently passes for air conditioning in French cars isn’t up to Australian standards.
We sought cooler temperatures by going up Mont Ventoux. Great views all along and we found ourselves in the middle of at least one bicycle race going up and down the mountain. Made for hairy driving for Malcolm. But we didn’t hit anyone. The view from the top was amazing. While we were there some gliders suddenly appeared. They were extremely close but a bit hard to catch on the camera. Wonderful to see.
On the way back we stopped at one of the cute stone villages - Vaison-la-Romaine
Those gliders do look close. a lovely photo of Sue and Malcolm
