Barra, Eriskay and South Uist

Island hopping today. A lovely clear day and a great view for breakfast.

After a relatively relaxed breakfast we set out to complete our circuit of Barra but then to make our way to the ferry to Eriskay.

Got there to find the usual ferry had broken down and a smaller one was running an hour later. A bit of confusion at first about whether we were booked in for this one but everything worked out fine and we were soon on hour way. An uneventful crossing to Eriskay.

Our only stop on Eriskay was at The Politician hotel which apparently had been the setting for some of the scenes in aThe film Whiskey Galore

Then it was onto the causeway to cross over to South Uist.

A few stops at various archaeological sites and the Kildonan Museum and then on to Orosay Hotel in the middle of nowhere.
