Kieran kindly took us to the airport for our flight to Reykjavik, battling roadworks on the way. No idea why, but our flight left quite late. There were lots of Americans - apparently it's a popular route via Iceland.

It was quite a clear day so it was exciting to be able to see it from the air - up closer it was a bit of a moonscape in parts

Phillip sailed through customs but I was randomly chosen for the body scanner and to have my bag examined. Then we found that it was a manual immigration system. Didn't take long and for a change we have a stamp in our passports

Malcolm was already waiting with our transfer driver and we had a good trip into town, looking at the landscape on the way.

Our hotel is in the middle of the tourist area, not far from the big church. Once we settled in to our rooms we went out for a walk (more of a hobble for me though) and started to see the sights.

Considered various options for dinner but ended up back at our hotel where we all had our first traditional Icelandic dish - delicious lamb soup and bread. An early night as we still haven't acclimatised.
