The hop on hop off bus

Monday we decided to try the bus. We started off by just staying on to see some different areas as this one goes out into some of the inner suburbs. We weren’t disappointed.

It started by going through a lovely green area with nice (and substantial) houses- not just parks and gardens, forest too. A lovely feel to the area. Travelled along and over the river on the way.

First stop was in the new town - Neustadt. We went off along back streets reminiscent of Brunswick before it started to get trendy to find the Kunstoff Passage - an interesting little enclave. Apparently when it rains the water going through the pipes plays music.

Made our way back to the bus stop to find a cheese shop recommended by our bus driver (who has anuncle in Adelaide) described as the prettiest milk shop in the world. (Perhaps it translates to dairy - don’t know.). It was certainly worth a look! (But didn’t have time to buy any cheese.)

Back on the bus looking at various sights to go back to the centre of town for more wandering around and to have a look at the inside of the Frauenkirche (our Lady church). It was closed for lunch so we had a snack too - a baked potato for Phillip and Dresdner Eierschecke for me. Both delicious.

The toilet door at the restaurant had an interesting door closer - a rock on the end of a rope.

After some window shopping we went to some of museums at the Residenzschloss - Armoury, Turkish Chamber, and Coin Cabinet.

Then we saw the Green Vault - various treasures including a rare green diamond of hundreds of carats - and a see through lift.

A few sights on the way back and a German schnitzel with a couple of beers for Phillip and Gruner Vetliner for me to finish the day.
