But we did a bit of travelling around the countryside in the west of Ireland over the weekend.
Alison wanted to go to Westport and we aimed for that. Google maps made some “interesting” choices and took us through some lovely countryside but on back roads which felt like little lanes to us and made driving stressful for Phillip.
Couldn’t get any accommodation for Saturday night so looked further afield and ended up outside Ballina - not exactly close to Westport. We took the scenic route on Sunday back to Westport.
The countryside was was constantly changing. Mountains with mist, very flat areas, peat bogs still actively providing fuel, rivers, cute towns, seasides with lovely sand and seasides with rocks. A great variety.
Along the way we popped into the Belleek pottery and had a look at their display
