Saturday

We travelled from Kyoto to Ōsaka today but before leaving Kyoto we visited the Togetsukyo Bridge with views of the western hills of Kyoto where the trees are now starting to change colour. Its a popular tourist area and has a number of interesting shops. Miffy is apparently popular and there was a queue of people waiting for it to open so they could buy Miffy bread, cakes and pastries.

Then we made our way around to the Arishiyama bamboo Grove.

Lunch was in the tranquil surroundings (well they would have been if not for all the people) of the gardens and buildings of the Tenryuji Temple. Phillip opted out of our traditional vegetarian Buddhist lunch but I found it very interesting with lots of nice things. The variety was surprising.

Our final stop before Osaka was at a brewery that makes sake, beer and plum wine.

Our hotel has its Christmas decorations up.
